The BRAVIA Theatre Bar 9 brings the joy of cinema home with a powerful, immersive cinematic sound. This deeply impressive soundbar packs in 13 speakers including dedicated side-firing and up-firing drivers. These drivers work in combination with high quality amplification and the latest Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sound formats to create a truly authentic cinematic experience. Four built-in passive radiators ensure deep, punchy bass. Bar 9 also features Sony’s impressive 360 Spatial Sound Mapping, this clever technology uses advanced sound processing to simulate multiple ‘phantom speakers’ positioned around you, making it feel like the sound is coming from all directions.

Perfect Partners

The BRAVIA Theatre Bar 9 works well with any make of TV but it when used with Sony’s own BRAVIA TV range you can take advantage of some unique features. Connect this soundbar to a compatible Sony BRAVIA TV and the sound bar's settings are automatically added to the TV's Quick Settings menu to make operation as simple as possible. With selected BRAVIA TV models you can also use the TV as a centre speaker thanks to the Acoustic Centre Sync feature, this provides the most authentic, cinematic viewing experience possible.

Versatile music streaming

The Theatre Bar 9 has several built-in options for playing your music and other content wirelessly. There's Bluetooth built in for mobile devices, plus Wi-Fi streaming for playing files on your home network. Apple AirPlay 2 makes it simple to play music and more from iOS® devices. For Android™ fans the HT-A9000 can also stream content through Chromecast built-in, via a wide range of compatible apps. 

You can even control the sound bar and make song selections using a Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa voice controller (sold separately).

Latest HDMI specifications

The bar's HDMI 2.1 ports support the latest 4K/120Hz and 8K video passthrough as well as HDR (High Dynamic Range) formats like Dolby Vision, so you'll be able to maximise the picture quality from your next-gen games console or 4K Blu-ray player. With eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel), you can also receive uncompressed audio signals — including Dolby Atmos — from an eARC-equipped TV.

DSEE Ultimate™

Sony’s DSEE Ultimate™ (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) upscales lower resolution digital audio files, so you can enjoy better sound quality even with compressed formats like MP3. Hi-Res audio files are also supported.

Easy Upgrade Paths

Theatre Bar 9 is mightily impressive as a stand-alone unit but for those that want even more performance you have the option of adding the 200-watt SA-SW3 or 300-watt SA-SW5 subwoofer. These subwoofers have been designed to complement Sony's range of soundbars and connect wirelessly for easy placement and setup. You can take the sound a step further by adding the optional SA-RS3S or SA-RS5 wireless surround speaker kit.
